Sarah DeLong was described by one of her nominators as showing amazing leadership ability and that she is efficient and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that all the students’ needs are met. She has an exemplary work ethic, manages her time wisely and keeps her students diligently on task. She is highly reliable and will be where she is supposed to be at any given time. She is also flexible, able and willing to change her schedule with a moment’s notice if change is necessary. She recognizes the importance of a strong work ethic, persistence and intellectual integrity. She is a valuable member of her team and serves as a role model for how to do the job right.
The lessons Sarah develops and learning materials she puts together can be applied to address students’ current needs or another students needs in the future. She is always looking for ways to improve programs, often taking her own time to research a new idea or a new approach. She takes part in district workshop offerings. Most recently she is completing course work to attain her special education teacher’s certification, but has also taken a Safety Care course and a course in Autism to learn how to teach children with this disability.
She has a wonderful rapport with her peers, and is especially gifted when with children who find learning difficult and challenging. She has the ability to connect with her students. Her talent for teaching simple concepts as well as more advanced topics is truly superior. She has excellent written and verbal communication skills and is extremely organized. All this is pulled together by her incredible positive attitude.
To say that Sarah Delong exceeds the expectations of an Educational Technician would be an understatement. Her attitude is that everyone can work together to provide specialized instruction to our special students. When Sarah isn’t teaching her students, she is constantly doing lesson plans, making games, putting together visual schedules, searching for icons to make and use for various charts or making sure that student assessments are up-to-date. She is always focused on the kids. Sarah is a problem-solver, one who follows through until an issue is resolved.
Sarah has a great attitude toward her work; getting it done and making it fun to work with her. Her wonderful (and quite dry) send of humor, sometimes catches you off guard as she teases you…until you see that mischievous twinkle in her eye…and the ready smile when she knows she ‘got cha”. She inspires everyone around her with her dedication and caring. Sarah is an exemplary employee in every sense of the word.
Congratulations Sarah DeLong for receiving the MSAD #53 Board of Education Support Staff Award!
