Dear Parent/Guardians and Community
Members,
The Federal No Child Left Behind
Act (NCLBA) requires that all states and districts receiving Title I
funds must prepare and disseminate annual report cards publicizing
summary data about student performance and teacher quality. MSAD #53
receives funds under Title IA, Basic Disadvantaged. These funds
provide literacy and math tutoring for district students identified as
needing support beyond the regular classroom setting.
The MSAD #53 District Report card
includes student achievement information from the Maine Educational
Assessment (MEA) for the previous four school years, 2005-2009. Grades
3-8 are tested annually in reading and math.
The report card data shows a
comparison between district student achievement levels and the state as
a whole, indicators used in making adequate yearly progress (AYP), and
classes taught by “highly qualified teachers” (HQT) as defined by the
NCLBA.
The State of Maine provides district
and school report cards with more detailed data about student
achievement levels and teacher quality. These documents for the
2008-2009 school year can be found by going to the Maine Department of

The educators of MSAD #53 are proud of
our students. The MEA is one of many measures of success. Supportive
