Warsaw/Vickery Library & Learning Commons
The Warsaw/Vickery library is beginning a change process this year to better support a sense of community, collaboration, and participatory learning using technology as well as traditional library sources and services. The Library/Learning Commons will be staffed by the district Technology Integrationists and the Library Services Technician and Assistant Librarian.
Our goal is offering a flexible and open schedule to increase access to resources and services. Vickery students will continue to have library as a “special” once a week. Instruction will focus on how to access and use the resources in the Learning Commons and a read-aloud that supports literacy learning and enjoyment of quality books. Warsaw students will utilize Learning Commons resources to augment classroom instruction.
While students will receive guidance in book selection, please be aware that our Library/Learning Commons serves grades 1-8 and include materials suitable for a wide range of ages housed in a relatively small space. Parents may wish to speak with their children about what types of books and other materials they would like to select for independent use.
