Grade 5/6 Math Teacher

Warsaw Middle School is seeking a kind, compassionate, and motivated individual interested in teaching 5th and 6th grade looping mathematics. Suitable candidates will be well versed in current mathematics pedagogy. Warsaw Middle School serves the towns of Burnham, Detroit, and Pittsfield. The MSAD 53 community is in close proximity to coastal Maine and a variety of other social and recreational opportunities.

Ed Tech I 

Warsaw Middle School is looking for an Ed Tech I who is caring, compassionate and patient to join the special education team at Warsaw Middle School to work with grades 5-8. Students in this program have a wide variety of academic, functional and behavioral needs. The successful candidates will closely collaborate with the special education teachers to manage student behaviors and behavior plans as well as support students in the regular and special education setting in both small groups and one to one to meet students' unique needs.


Candidates must have an Ed. Tech I authorization or be eligible to apply for authorization through the Maine Department of Education and must be fingerprinted through the Maine Department of Education. This is a part time position (29.5 hours per week). Hourly wage is per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

5/6 Social Studies Teacher
MSAD #53 is seeking a 5/6 grade social studies teacher at our Warsaw Middle School.
Proper certification required, or eligibility to become certified, and fingerprinting.
Salary per collective bargaining agreement.

Substitute school nurse

MSAD #53 is seeking substitute school nurses to provide medical treatment to students when the regular school nurse is absent.

Requirements:  Must have a current RN license and a Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).  Previous school nursing experience preferred but not required.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

Manage school clinic visits, intervene with actual and potential health problems, and assist with decision-making

Manage and support chronic health conditions

Dispense and monitor physician ordered medications and/or treatments.

Manage and use equipment and supplies ordered by a health care provider for everyday or extended use in the school setting.

Provide and/or appropriately delegate health care procedures

Establish and maintain professional communication with all stakeholders which is ongoing, timely and respectful with consideration given to professional confidentiality

Maintain individual student health records adhering to documentation standards

Create a caring, trusting, personal climate conducive to learning

Possible physical demands include, but are not limited to: standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending and reaching outward.

Curriculum Coordinator

MSAD #53 is seeking a highly motivated and educationally passionate individual for the position of Director of Curriculum for our PK-8 school district.

Responsibilities include overseeing curriculum, instruction, and assessment; Gifted and Talented programming; ESEA grant writing and management; staff professional development planning and implementation.  As well the chosen candidate would serve as a liaison between the school district and Maine Central Institute (MCI).  

This position is part of the district Administrative Team.

Qualifications:  Admin. 34 Professional K-12 (078) Curriculum Coordinator Certification

                       Educational leadership experience

                       Skilled in communication, collaboration, and problem solving

This position is for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Salary based on experience.

Substitute Custodians

Do you want to impact a child's learning? We are in search of substitute custodians to care for the facilities. Work may include day cleaning throughout buildings and/or evening cleaning classrooms and other areas. Work times and days are flexible depending on candidate availability. MSAD #53 is a PreK - 8 public school district nestled in central Maine, serving Burnham, Detroit, and Pittsfield. Our community of educators is committed to ensuring that every child thrives. Learners experience a comprehensive curriculum that cultivates readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, musicians, athletes, and citizens.


We annually enroll approximately 600 students PreK-8. Our students are tuitioned to Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield for their high school experience. MCI is an independent school enrolling a diverse, international population of residential students in addition to MSAD #53 students. District schools include:


Manson Park School (PreK & K) - Seven classrooms are housed in our primary school perched at the edge of Pittsfield’s 45-acre jewel, Manson Park. Parents value the family atmosphere in this building.


Vickery School (Grades 1-4) - Elementary learners enjoy weekly specials in music, visual art, library, guidance, and PE. We celebrate students at monthly assemblies and honor acts of kindness with a focus on safe, respectful, and responsible living.


Warsaw Middle School (Grades 5-8) - Middle school philosophy provides the foundation for integrative curriculum, daily advisory, and a menu of allied arts. Extracurricular options include robotics, show chorus, jazz band, and Civil Rights team.
