The MSAD #53 Children’s Benefit Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, was started over 30 years ago when a school nurse recognized a growing need among local children and families. What began as a small effort to meet basic needs has since grown into a vital community resource, supported by caring volunteers and the generosity of the towns within MSAD #53.
CBF continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families within the district. Designed to offer support where it is needed most, the fund helps ensure that children are equipped with the resources necessary to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
One of the key ways the Children’s Benefit Fund provides assistance is through access to new and gently used clothing. Recognizing that families may face financial or personal challenges, the fund ensures that students have appropriate clothing for school and the changing seasons. This support helps children feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn alongside their peers.
In addition to clothing, the Children’s Benefit Fund extends its reach by helping connect students with summer camp opportunities. These experiences allow children to explore new activities, build friendships, and strengthen social and emotional skills in supportive and engaging environments. For many families, camp would not otherwise be an option, making this contribution especially meaningful.
The fund also serves as a flexible resource to meet other needs as they arise, whether that means providing school supplies or supporting families in unexpected circumstances.
The Children’s Benefit Fund is operated entirely by volunteer staff and sustained through donations from our generous communities. Every contribution makes a difference and directly supports local children and families in need.
Families who are in need of support are encouraged to complete the assistance form on this page. All information shared is kept strictly confidential to protect the dignity and privacy of each child and family.
Through these efforts, the MSAD #53 Children’s Benefit Fund highlights the district’s commitment to caring for the whole child. By addressing basic needs and creating opportunities, the fund plays a vital role in ensuring that every student has the chance to succeed.
